Grades 4 and up.
Each year kids in Vermont, grades 4 to 8, are encouraged to read books from a list of 30 titles. In April, kids throughout Vermont vote on their favorite title, & the book that receives the most votes is the winner of the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award. Here follows the list for 2007/08. Read some or read them all. Post your thoughts here!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick and funny read. Phineas is sure he and his bestfriend will win next year's school science fair. Phineas arrives back at school after summer vacation to find out that his bestfriend/science fair partner has unexpectedly moved away. Find out what happens when the teacher assigns him a new partner....the annoying new kid! I particularly liked how the author included actual science experiments in the story. Prepare to laugh!
This book is funny and interesting!!! Any one who likes to hear somomes life should read this!!

this was a totally sweet book
It was the best book ever. I thought it was very good. I think it would be cool if they made a second one.
There is a second book: Phineas L. MacGuire... Gets Slimed! It came out the summer of 2007. And, there's a third one due out June 2008: Phineas L. MacGuire...Blasts Off!
If your a science person you should read this book. It has some hilarious chapters in it. Mac has a friend that can draw goood. I really reccomend this book to anyone.
THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!
This was amazing! It was an easy read, but it was fun. I think it's good for science-y people.
I'm reading it at home. It's funny how Mac always realates to science. science isn't my favorite subject but... it's good.
i wonder how many phineas L. macguire... books there are. If any of you people who are posting comments who know that... please post it on your next blog.

This is and asome book it is a MUST READ.
this book is really boaring
This is a GREAT book!!! It is a book about a boy who's best friend moves away, and the most obnoxious boy moves in. He is forced to work with him in a science fair.
The reson I like this book is because it had a lot of lesons in it, like don't joge people and more.
I liked this book because Phineas L MaGuire is such a quenius but he is paired with a non caring student, but they find a project the both enjoy.
They focus on it together and in the end it works out well.
I loved this book because the author put a lot of detail and the part I liked the most was the very end because it had a couple of experiments that showed what you needed to do it with and I thought it was really COOL.
