Alabama Moon is a great read that is completely fiction. It details the life of a young boy who is brought up to live off of the forest. His father despises the government, and decides that no one in his family should step foot out of the forest unless they are going to the store nearby. The boy, Moon, is made to believe that the law is the reason for troubles, and that if he is caught by the law he will die. When Moon's father dies Moon is forced to go to a boys orphanage.
The book is all about Moon deciding whether civilization is good or bad.
I love this book. It is a cool look at a kid who faces trouble with friendships and authority.

I have a feeling that this story is not all fiction. I know that strange things happened to many men who fought in Vietnam. This could very well be based on some fact. Moon is a very self-sufficient boy who tries to honor his father's last wish. When he discovers that there are good things about civilized life, he has some choices to make. This is a great book about a boy's struggle with ideals.

Tyler E and Chris A of Berlin says: It was very adventurous book when he tries to live his dream to live in the Alaska wilderness. This could have happened in real life. You can live off the land. Like Moon and his Dad did. I think that Moon could had survived up in cold Alaska wilderness.

Alabama Moon was a really, really, awesome book. I think that the author did a good job on making the book realistic. It was also a cool book because there was a very descriptive setting, not just a blank background.

its pretty good but stargirl and captain underpants is MUCH better, the reason why i stated that is because like most books its boring at first and then gets better at the end, but stargirl and captain underpants just delve right into things right in the beginning

This was a powerful book! If you like adventure or survival stories, this book is definitely for you. It's also really thought-provoking to think about why Moon's dad wanted to live the way he did.
