This book really gave me a good insight on the world today. It didn't focus on illegal immigrants, it focused more on exciting adventure. This book kept me on the edge of my seat.

Chris A of Berlin says: I enjoyed this book because it was interesting. I liked him on his long adventure. Trying to save up money to send back to his mom so she can feed his brothers and sisters.

Question for Batman: I am curious why you think this book is dumb. Can you explain? I actually enjoyed this book, and wondered what you didn't like about it.

This is a good story and it sounds like something that could really happen. I enjoyed reading it from the very first page to the very last. It made me think about all the people who don't have a lot of money and how they must feel. I feel more sorry for them now that I've read this book. I recommend it.

Will Hobbs was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1947. He grew up all over the map. It was a fiction story that he wrote.
I liked the part when Victor found his friend and his friend said, “Let’s split up,” but Victor said no because they just got with each other. I liked the other part when Victor went and sent back money because they are not getting any money for the corn they sell every year so Victor goes to work with his friend’s brother. It was exciting. It would be good if it had a second book to say what happened to his family.

I think people should give the Mexicans a chance, now that I'v read the book I see the truth in the terrible relationship beetween the Mexicans and the Americans, I also think that it took Victor a lot of efort to do that just for his family.

Crossing the wire was a very good book! I think that the mix of suspense and sadness was a great way to make it stay interesting. This was one of the best DCF books this year, I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes suspense.

I know most people like this book but I didn't. It was the only dcf book so far that I had to put down and stop reading. I stopped it because it was boring at parts I thought should be exciting and that is the worst thing in a book for me.

I don't think that this book is romantic. But This Book is so awesome I loved how it had the right amount of action. Another thing I liked was how Victor had a cause. This book also changed my view on Mexicans and know I'm not as racist on this subject.

This book really interested me because the story is based on something that is happening in real life, yet it creates a fictional adventure plot about Turtle that compels you to finish it. It also makes you think about whose side you are on, Victor's (or you can think of it as the illegal immigrant's side), or the US's? While you are reading this book you can't help but think about how much stamina that these people have to have if they are going to succeed the crossing. Blazing Sun, scarce water and food, and crooked coyotes are all things that they have to deal with if they want to make it across alive. It's a great book, I really recommend it.

Wow! I am surprised that so many people disiked this book. Batman, you confuse me. You stated that "Crossing the Wire" was horrible, abut posted soon after saying that it was good. What do you mean? As for me I loved this book. A tale of survival with a new perspective. Victor must of felt great motivation because his family's condition (as I"m sure I would, too) to overcome those challenges. A Man vs. Mother Nature classic. Try putting yourself in his position: poor, hungry, no father... But he does have family, and I think that was the extra push for success in all of the challenges that opposed him.
In responding to others comments, I would like to know why this book was "A horrible book... don't ever ever....ever read it." Hippo Moomoo?

I liked this book. I liked it because it puts you on your toes. For example, Victor get's caught by border patrol. Then all of a sudden he is trying again. This book shows you that you can acomplish a goal if you keep trying. Also his travels are fun, I really enjoyed them.

This suspense filled book deals with the problem of poverty and the immagration problem in Mexico. In the beggining Victor was very safe, but in his journey to save his family from the horrible situation of poverty Victor has to be brave to survive the tough conditions of being a mule and the desert. I would give this book 10 out of 10!!!
